Stanbic Bank wins three awards at 2016 Financial Reporting Awards

Stanbic Bank, Uganda’s leading financial institution, emerged the proud winner in three prestigious categories at the 2016 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards held at the Kampala Serena Hotel this week.

Stanbic Bank Uganda won first place for the Banking Services Award; Best Listed Entities Award and won silver for the Report of the Year Award. Additionally, Stanbic was given special recognition for exceptional performance in sustainability reporting.

The FiRe awards are organised by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) in collaboration with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and Uganda Securities Exchange (USE). They seek to enhance the quality of financial and business reporting in Uganda by encouraging the implementation of financial reporting standards as well as best practice.

Accepting the awards on behalf of Stanbic Bank Uganda, Samuel Mwogeza, Chief Finance Officer said, “We are very proud to have received the accolades as they are confirmation of our commitment to encouraging transparency and effective communication of financial and business information. As Uganda’s leading bank, it is important that we promote good financial reporting and accountability in the corporate reporting process especially as a listed entity.”

He further added, “I would like to thank our outstanding teams for their contribution to this achievement and for their continuous efforts in elevating Stanbic Bank’s overall performance and position as the leader in the market.”

In his conclusion, he thanked the banks customers, shareholders and all other stakeholders for their loyalty and support.

It has been a triumphant year for Stanbic following the bank’s recognition in a series of awards. Among these include: Most valuable African banking brand in the Banker’s 2016 list of top 500 banks in the world, best foreign exchange provider in Africa at the 2016 Finance magazine awards and being crowned as Africa’s Best Bank for Markets at the Euromoney awards for excellence in London. In addition, Euromoney recently named Stanbic Bank as the Best Bank in Uganda and in Zambia.
