Sadolin Paints Uganda is a subsidiary of AkzoNobel, a Dutch paints and coatings company. It was established in 1963, and currently has more than 50% of the local market share. AkzoNobel also has subsidiaries in Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, trading under the Sadolin brand name.
The coatings and paints manufacturer is incorporated in the United Kingdom. It produces over 40 gradients of decorative, interior, exterior, automotive paints and coatings. The company also supplies products from International Paint, an Akzo Nobel subsidiary in South Africa and the Octoral automotive paint brand from DeBeer, a subsidiary of paint manufacturer, Valspar.
In 2017, Japan’s Kansai Paints acquired the company in a deal that was said to be the biggest corporate acquisition in East Africa within the two-year period.
