Coffee receipts up 43% year on year in May

Exports of coffee, Uganda’s most valuable export commodity, were 408,454 60-kilo bags worth $47.57 million in May, according to figures from the Uganda Coffee Development Authority.

The May figures represent a 72.24% increase in value compared to the same period last year and a 42.84% year on year growth in quantity.

The Robusta crop brought in $36.13m for 324,640 bags, while Arabica exports were 83,814 bags worth $11.44m.

Coffee exports for the 12 months to May totalled 4.02m bags valued at $467m compared to 3.63m bags worth $360 million in the same period the previous year, a 10.74% and 29.72% increase in quantity and value respectively.
