Bukedde is still Uganda’s biggest-circulating newspaper

Bukedde maintained its position as Uganda’s biggest circulating newspaper in the second quarter of this year. Additionally, according to figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations of South Africa, it is the only audited newspaper that increased circulation.

The Luganda-language daily increased circulation to 33,113, 11.3% higher than in the first quarter. That means Bukedde’s circulation has climbed in each of the last four quarters.

New Vision, which like Bukedde is published by the Vision Group, saw circulation fall 7.7% from the previous quarter to 26,941. The weekend paper, however, Sunday Vision, increased circulation to 17,796 from 17,201 in the first three months of the year.

Daily Monitor’s circulation went down for the sixth straight quarter. Its average sales in the period were 17,132 copies, 4.8% lower than the previous period.

Sunday Monitor’s circulation also declined to 11,409 copies, 3.6% less than in the first quarter. The Monitor is published by the Nation Media Group.
