Stanbic Bank donates to mosques for Ramadan

As the holy month of Ramadan comes to an end, one of the core pillars observed is giving to charity or alms-giving. During this time, many families are constrained without food to break their daily fast as required. Many rely on the mosque communities who provide the Iftar meals at the end of the day.

In the same spirit, Stanbic bank Uganda has joined the Muslim community across the country to support them through donations of dry food parcels to vulnerable families.

“We at Stanbic and our counterparts across the globe are honoured and privileged to interact and share with the Muslim community during this holy month,” said Patrick Mweheire, chief executive of Stanbic, at the handover ceremony at Kibuli Mosque today.

Mr Mweheire added:”Through our CSI initiatives, we are committed to transforming lives by addressing the needs of the communities we serve. This is one of the ways we can contribute towards the prosperity of our country by supporting the vulnerable so that they too can see a better tomorrow for themselves and their families.

The Secretary General of the office of supreme Mufti, Sheikh Luwalira Lubowa said: “Ramadhan is a period of great sacrifice, discipline and reflection for all Muslims. Our relationship with Stanbic bank goes a long way back and we are very grateful to Stanbic for their support during this holy month.”

Other mosque communities which will benefit from the Stanbic Ramadan initiative include: Kawempe, Mbarara, Mbale, Iganga, Masaka, Arua and Gulu.
