MD, Dfcu Bank (October 2007 to January 2019)

Juma Kisaame was thrown into the deep end at Dfcu Bank when senior bank officials were accused of complicity in the Global Fund corruption scandal, which forced his predecessor to leave after less than two years on the job.

Mr Kisaame joined Dfcu in 1992 as head of finance and administration. He held several other jobs at the bank until 2004 — commercial manager, leasing; general manager, mortgages — when he joined Tanzania’s Eurafrican Bank as managing director until 2007.

He graduated from Makerere University with a bachelor’s of commerce degree, worked as a trainee accountant at Uganda Development Bank, and completed an Advanced Management Program at INSEAD in 2001.

Between 2007 and 2015, Dfcu Ltd’s annual net profit increased by 314.2%, from Shs8.5 billion to Shs35.3 billion.

On 23 March 2020, the 55-year-old was appointed to the board of directors at the Uganda Revenue Authority as its chair.
