Sales of English dailies decline in Q3 as Bukedde picks up
Circulation figures for the third quarter of this year show a decline in the total circulation of the two major English dailies - New Vision and Daily Monitor - and a pick up for Bukedde, the Luganda daily published by Vision Group (NVL).

Uganda has competition to thank for some of Africa’s lowest mobile prices
Data from Research ICT Africa shows that 1GB of mobile data in the Q2 of this year was cheaper in only Tanzania, Egypt, and Mozambique. On average, the plan cost $3.62 in Uganda, versus $0.89 in Tanzania, $2.82 in Egypt, and $2.87 in Mozambique.

Imports of used cars down in 2015/16 due to environmental levy, but new cars and tax collections unaffected
The Uganda Revenue Authority cleared less motor-vehicles into the country in 2015/2016 than it did in 2014/16. The decline was due to a big fall in the number of used vehicles cleared; new vehicles cleared and taxes from car imports rose, however.

Uganda GDP grows 1.4% in final quarter of 2015/16
Real Gross Domestic Product expanded at an annualised rate of 1.4% in the fourth quarter of financial year 2015/2016 (April - June), compared to a 0.1% (revised) decline in the third quarter, according to data from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics.

Inflation falls to 4.2% in September
Annual headline inflation fell for the third consecutive month, slowing to 4.2% in September 2016 from 4.8% in August, according to data from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics. Core inflation, which is targeted by the Central Bank, also fell to 4.1%.

Between January and August, bookings transactions for people travelling to East Africa grew by 11.2% compared to the same period last year, according to ForwardKeys, a company that predicts future travel patterns by analysing flight reservation data.
