Ronald Makata replaces Abraham Ongenge, who returned to Kenya

Stanbic Bank on Monday announced the appointment of Ronald Makata as its new chief finance and value management officer, replacing Abraham Ongenge who returned to his native Kenya and was recently appointed executive head for personal and private banking at the Kenyan unit.

Prior to his appointment, Makata was the bank’s head of treasury and capital management. He has 17 years’ experience in finance, 13 of which have been with Stanbic. His other roles at the bank include head of banking, client solutions, financial controller, and manager in charge of financial reporting.

Stanbic credited him with overseeing a number of transformational initiatives, including the implementation of robust financial controls across Africa, the streamlining of customer processes, and digitisation projects.

Mr Makata has also proved valuable in supporting “young professionals,” said chief executive Anne Juuko in a statement issued by the bank.

Mr Makata holds an MBA from Edinburgh Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Makerere University. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda.
