Airtel’s share of mobile money agents grows, but still behind MTN
The mobile money sector is dominated by two telecoms, MTN Uganda and Airtel, who together account for 99% of mobile money agent market presence, according to a new report. The market leader is MTN with 57%, followed by Airtel with 42%.

Vodafone is in the process of phasing out unlimited plans, according to the company's spokesperson. But Vodafone customers who had signed up by 25 August will continue to use unlimited plans until further notice.

MTN Uganda shrugged off a difficult last quarter of 2015 to grow its subscriber base by 10.8% to just under 10 million customers in the first six months of 2016, interim half-year results by parent company MTN Group show.

MTN Uganda names new CEO
MTN Uganda, the country's biggest company by revenue, has appointed Wim Vanhelleputte as its new CEO, company sources told Uganda Business News. A formal announcement is expected to be made soon. The Belgian is expected to start work on August 1.
