Bank of Baroda Uganda has appointed Chandan Singh as managing director, following regulatory approval from the Bank of Uganda.
Mr Singh, a banking professional with more than 15 years of domestic and international experience, holds a Bachelor of Science degree and is a certified Associate and Junior Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers — the CAIIB and JAIIB designations awarded by the institute.
However, the bank’s disclosure, which was also issued to the Uganda Securities Exchange in compliance with its rules, is notably thin. Basic details expected of a senior executive appointment are omitted, including Mr Singh’s current posting, his career history, and the markets in which he has worked.
More practically, the announcement gives no indication of when he assumes his new role, leaving shareholders and the public with little sense of the transition timeline.
The managing director holds executive responsibility for the bank’s day-to-day operations, reporting to the board. Bank of Baroda Uganda’s board comprises a chairperson, two executive directors, and five non-executive directors.
