Coffee exports fall at steepest pace since December 2022

Uganda's coffee exports were 9.4% lower than last year due to lower arabica yields

Coffee exports fell by the most in fourteen months in February due to a drought in the Mount Elgon region, although higher global prices led to a significant increase in receipts.

Uganda exported 434,582 60-kilo bags of coffee in the month, down 9.4 per cent on the same month last year, according to the Uganda Coffee Development Authority. Export earnings amounted to $82.6 million, an increase of 25 per cent. The average price per kilo increased to $2.7 from Shs2.3 a year earlier, but was still lower than January’s $3.
