Uganda’s inflation fell to 3 per cent in September, strengthening the case for the Bank of Uganda to cut interest rates at its meeting next week.
The rise in the annual consumer price index compared with August’s 3.5 per cent, although it slowed for the third month in a row.
Core inflation, which strips out volatile food and energy prices, fell to 3.7 per cent from 3.9 per cent, according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics. Other goods inflation held steady at 2.1 per cent, while services inflation fell to 5.8 per cent from 6.2 per cent in August.
