Knight Frank Uganda celebrated its 25th anniversary this week, marking a significant milestone in the country’s real estate industry and ushering in a new era defined by a renewed vision, strengthened partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
The celebration, held at Mestil Hotel, was attended by clients, partners, industry leaders, staff and friends, and reflected on the company’s remarkable journey. It began in 1998 when the firm opened its doors as East Africa Property Agents, before rebranding to Knight Frank Uganda in 2000. Today, the company is one of Uganda’s most respected real estate consultancies, built on a foundation of professionalism, integrity, and consistency.
A journey rooted in purpose and perseverance
In her address, managing director Judy Rugasira recounted the early beginnings of Knight Frank Uganda, highlighting the pivotal mentorship of the late Patrick Walker of Knight Frank Kenya which shaped both her career and the trajectory of the firm.
“Twenty-five years later, we are not just celebrating longevity, but legacy—a story built on purpose, perseverance, and people,” she said.
At a time when Uganda’s real estate sector was informal, fragmented, and underserved, Knight Frank Uganda introduced the structure, ethics and data-driven practices that have since become industry standards. What began as a team of ten has grown into a multidisciplinary operation of ninety-five people, managing 1.9 million square feet of landmark properties and valuing over $850mn in assets annually.
Built on legacy, driven by vision
The evening’s theme, ‘Built on Legacy, Driven by Vision’, emphasised the firm’s commitment to honouring its 129-year global heritage while promoting an innovative, transparent, and sustainable agenda.
“Our success over the past 25 years is not just mine — it belongs to all of us,” said Ms Rugarisa. “It belongs to everyone who has contributed to this firm’s story, both past and present. The next chapter will not only be about property and profits; it will be about people, purpose, and progress.”
Ms Rugasira expressed her appreciation to clients, many of whom have become long-standing partners and friends, as well as to the Knight Frank Uganda team, the board of directors and her family, for their steadfast support.
A promise for the next 25 years
Looking ahead, Knight Frank Uganda reaffirmed its commitment to:
- Mentoring and empowering the next generation of real estate professionals
- Upholding the highest standards of integrity and service
- Expanding data-driven insights to inform investment and development
- Supporting the growth of a more sustainable and professional property industry.
“If the first 25 years were about building credibility, let the next 25 be about deepening impact,” said Ms Rugasira. “We remain anchored in who we are, yet bold in who we aspire to become.”
