Uganda Securities Exchange weekly trade briefing

As was the case last week, MTN Uganda and Stanbic Holdings had the highest turnover

During the week, shares worth Shs785.4mn of locally listed companies were traded on the Uganda Securities Exchange, higher than the previous week’s total turnover of Shs216.9mn.

The volume of shares traded increased to 12,325,505 from 6,623,662 in the previous week. Bank of Baroda Uganda was the most traded stock with 4,288,100 shares, followed by Stanbic Holdings Uganda Limited with 4,146,100 shares, and MTN Uganda with 2,843,600 shares. Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Limited traded 812,200 shares, while Umeme Limited sold 134,685 shares, followed by National Insurance Corporation with 53,410 shares and Uganda Clays Limited with 16,800 shares. Airtel Uganda traded 5,160 shares.

MTN Uganda again had the highest turnover of Shs486.3mn, followed by Stanbic Holdings with a turnover of Shs133.8mn. Bank of Baroda traded shares worth Shs64.3mn, while Umeme’s turnover was Shs51.5mn, and Cipla Quality Chemical Industries’ turnover was Shs42.6mn. Airtel shares worth Shs561,000 were traded during the week, while NIC traded shares worth Shs320,460, and Uganda Clays traded shares worth Shs216,720.
